Abu Dhabi, 7 May 2013 – Tawazun – the strategic investment firm focused on the long-term development of UAE’s industrial manufacturing with a specific focus on the defense sector – is getting ready to showcase the innovative products and solutions by its group companies in the 11th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2013), a large rendezvous for the world’s defense industries.
IDEF 2013 is being held in the Turkish city of Istanbul between on 7 to 10 May.
Through participation in IDEF 2013, Tawazun seeks to promote its defense manufacturing capabilities, using this meeting place for international defense industry.
Tawazun stand at IDEF 2013 will feature sections for different group companies including Tawazun Dynamics, Jobaria Defense systems, Nimr Automotive, Caracal International, Tawazun Advanced Defense Systems, Burkan Munitions and caracal Light Ammunitions.
Chief Executive Officer H.E. Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, said the Tawazun is stepping up its offerings at IDEF 2013 with several companies of the group set to showcase their latest made in UAE products and solutions.
“Visitors of the IDEF 2013 will have glimpses of the innovative and top of the line products and technologies, developed and manufactured by companies of the group, serving the various defense and homeland security requirements, added Al Hajeri.
He noted that IDEF 2013 will also be an opportunity to highlight the company’s vision for supporting UAE’s ongoing economic development drive and its unrelenting focus on economic diversification, sustainability, technology transfer and partnerships.
Al Hajeri stated: “At Tawazun, we are working closely with our counterparts in Turkey to ensure the long-term development of the UAE’s industrial manufacturing sector. The UAE is Turkey’s second largest trade partner for Turkey in the Middle East region after Iraq.
Turkey, on the other hand, made a positive shift in its position as a trade partner to the UAE from 17th rank in 2011 to the fifth rank in 2012.
The first 8 months of 2012 saw a significant growth in bilateral trade between the UAE and Turkey to AED 33.3 billion (US$9.1 billion).
IDEF 2013 is being held under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of National Defence, in collaboration with the Tüyap Fairs & Exhibitions Organization, bringing together leader companies of the defense industry in the fields of land, sea, air & space, transportation, logistic, support & supplies materials, and tools & equipment.
Delegates from 104 countries, including 110 official delegations and 633 exhibitors, are attending IDEF 2013, seen as one of the world’s biggest events for defense industry and procurement.
IDEF 2013 is expected to attract over 52,000 visitors.
