Dubai, 16 August 2025 – The Mohammed bin Rashid Library welcomed a high-level delegation from the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement (Tawazun), led by His Excellency Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Council. The visit aimed to explore the library’s pivotal role in the cultural landscape and strengthen cooperation between the two institutions. The delegation was received by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Board Member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Mazrouei provided an in-depth overview of the library’s services, which include nine specialised sub-libraries offering a unique knowledge experience. Housing approximately 750,000 printed books and over 4.5 million e-books, the library stands as a beacon of intellectual enrichment.
A key focus was the library’s groundbreaking “A World in Your Language” initiative, which breaks linguistic barriers by providing literary and scientific works in nine global languages. This project fosters cultural diversity, cross-cultural dialogue, and accessibility to world literature, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to an inclusive knowledge economy.
Dr. Al Mazrouei also highlighted the upcoming Dubai International Summit for Libraries and Publishing (October 2025), themed “The Future of the Publishing Industry.” The summit will convene global thought leaders, publishers, and policymakers to address digital transformation, AI’s impact on publishing, and the evolving role of libraries as innovation hubs.
The delegation toured the AI-powered Automated Storage System, a cutting-edge facility that delivers requested books within minutes, enhancing efficiency and minimizing human error.
Dr. Al Nuaimi praised the library’s contributions to knowledge and proposed collaboration through sharing Tawazun’s research theses to expand the library’s academic resources.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Rare Collections Exhibition, featuring historic manuscripts, and the Arab Press Exhibition, documenting the UAE and Arab world’s media heritage. Both parties expressed eagerness to deepen future cooperation in cultural and knowledge exchange.
